Bronny James Commits To USC

Bronny James has decided where he will play collegiate basketball. The son of NBA icon LeBron James has announced that he will attend the University of Southern California, reports ESPN.

LeBron James took to Instagram to share his joy in Bronny’s big decision.

“So damn proud of you kid!, “LeBron wrote.

Following the Los Angeles Lakers’ 127-97 blowout win over Golden State Warriors in Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinals on Saturday (May 5, 2023), LeBron beamed with pride when discussing Bronny’s announcement in a post-game interview.

“This is an incredible thing,” LeBron said, according to the Associated Press. “Obviously, his dad didn’t go to school. His mom didn’t go to college. It’s super cool. … USC is getting a great kid. He’s there to play basketball, [but] they’re going to be super surprised at how great a kid he is, even though they’ve been recruiting him for a while.”

LeBron has not been shy about sharing that his ultimate dream is to play on the same team as Bronny in the NBA.

“I’d definitely be looking at who got first-round picks in 2024, 2025, and things of that nature; 2026, ’27. I pay attention to that type of stuff. I do the math—2027? ” LeBron said. “I feel like I could play for quite a while. So it’s all up to my body, but more importantly, my mind. If my mind can stay sharp and fresh and motivated, then the sky’s not even a limit for me. I can go beyond that. But we shall see.”

“I put it in the air because I like to talk to the basketball gods out there and see if things can come to fruition,” he added. “I’ve always set out goals in my career, talked to the basketball gods, and they’ve listened to all of them. Hopefully, they can listen to this last one, too.”

ESPN’s Jonathan Givony has projected Bronny James as a top 10 pick in an NBA mock draft because he is “arguably the best perimeter defender in his high school class.”

After tearing his meniscus in 2021, the 6′ 3″ standout guard of Sierra Canyon High School in Los Angeles has recovered to become a blue-chip recruit and is currently ranked as the 19th-best high basketball player in the country. A McDonald’s All-American, Bronny has already signed with Nike. As a freshman, his NIL deal evaluation will be over $5 million.
