Happy Valentine’s Day and Black Love season, EBONY fam. It’s that time of year when we not only love on our significant other, but we are also intentional with loving ourselves. As we continue to celebrate Black excellence in all facets, we asked some of our favorite celebs and viral sensations to dish on their ideal plans for the day of love.
From Vivica Fox and Tabitha Brown to P-Valley’s J. Alphonse Nicholson and Holly Robinson Peete, here’s how these stars want to spend their Valentine’s Day.
Tabitha Brown
“I enjoy a date night at home. My husband isn’t vegan, but he doesn’t eat red meat or pork. So, I act like I’m making a steak and use my mushroom wine patty. I add a little onion and mushrooms, cook a baked potato and some Broccolini on the side. He loves it and thinks we’re at a restaurant eating good, but we’re right here in the house.”
J. Alphonse Nicholson
“We are still newlyweds, we’ve only been married 2-years. Her birthday is at the end of January, so we’ll do something fun or go somewhere around then—maybe Oakland. But for Valentine’s Day, my wife and I are homebodies. We like kicking it at the crib and watching TV. As long as we just have each other, we’re good.”
Holly Robinson Peete
“This will be our 29th Valetine’s Day, and that’s a big number. I’m one of those people that likes a good restaurant and a good bottle of wine. I also like a good love letter, and I ask my kids to write me love letters, too. There’s something beautiful about seeing love expressed in writing. So, I’m expecting 5 love letters on Feb. 14.”

“My ideal Valentine’s Day would be to go to the Beverly Hot Springs to be treated to a wonderful body care treatment. Then to go home and get ready and get my hair and my makeup done. From there, I would go to my favorite restaurant in Beverly Hills, Crustacean, and have a candlelight dinner, and afterward do a little somethin’ somethin’.”
“I love wine, so to have a beautiful bottle of pinot noir is my ideal drink to have on Valentine’s Day, to share a bottle of either Meiomi or Belle Glos with someone very special to look across the table at.”
Sophia Roe
“I honestly don’t have plans, but there will be champagne, and there will be a celebration. But, if I was designing my dream Valentine’s Day event, it would involve my friends. There would be bowls of popcorn, bowls of cream puffs, bowls of chocolate ganache, caramel and whipped cream—and I would make all of it myself.”
