Former Spice Girl Mel B’s coins have taken a hit during the pandemic and she’s going back to the father of her daughter, Eddie Murphy, to keep up his share of child support – and to also get the back support he’s apparently not been keeping up with.
Eddie’s return to the screen is set for an Amazon Prime premiere on December 18th after being sold to the streamer by studio Paramount. With theaters closed for the foreseeable in many parts across the world, some projects are being sent straight to video on demand, as opposed to sitting on a shelf.
Late last year, Eddie wrapped production on the long-gestating movie sequel. He also appeared recently in Dolomite Is My Name, a Netflix homage to the Blaxploitation era star who was one of the first independent Black artists in cinema. The cast for that film also included such stars as Wesley Snipes and other recognizable faces from the original cast.

While Eddie was filming in Atlanta at Tyler Perry Studios filming, he ran into stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. They were also filming on Tyler’s lot, reuniting for their sequel Bad Boys for Life at the time. With the stars of both films in the same place at the same time, Smith decided it was time for the two casts to get together. He shared an epic photo from the set of the “Coming to America” sequel, that featured all the celebrities together smiling.
He followed that up a few days later with a video documenting the momentous meeting and what actually went into capturing that photo.
The video begins with Smith and Lawrence dropping by the “Coming to America 2” set, filming in Tyler Perry’s new Atlanta studio complex, with Smith calling out Murphy. “Eddie, you come out here now!” Smith yells with mock fury. “You can’t hide.” Murphy exits his trailer, welcomed by cheers from the interlopers as he shares a hug with Smith and the members of both casts greet each other warmly.
This is followed by some random merriment until they all get together to pose for a selfie as Murphy cracks jokes. “It’s hard to beat this,” declares Smith as he, Murphy, Lawrence and Wesley Snipes pose together. “That’s iconicism!” “I’m glad this video ain’t scratch-and-sniff,” quips Murphy, sending everyone into waves of laughter just before co-star Tracy Morgan eventually enters the mix.

With his sequel selling for $125 million dollars, his ex-partner Mel B is looking to get an update on his finances and accounting, as she claims that her own income has been “dramatically reduced,” according to her lawyers – and she needs help with their daughter, 13-year-old Angel.
“Eddie and Melanie have both established careers in the entertainment industry. Melanie is a singer, songwriter and television personality. Eddie is a legendary comedian and actor. Until recently, Melanie has been fortunate in her career to sustain a comfortable lifestyle for herself and Angel. Unfortunately, Melanie’s income has dramatically reduced, such that she must consider modifying child support for the first time.”
US also reports that she’s tried to rectify this without going the legal route, but was “left with no choice but to file this.” Murphy was previously ordered to pay $25,000 a month, required to cover Angel’s health insurance and health costs, and contribute to her educational expenses.
Mel B’s attorney’s claimed that Murphy has “failed to do so” with regards to schooling costs as well, and as a result of all of the pre-existing circumstances, has requested a January court hearing.
