A 1-year-old girl was accidentally locked in a hot car. Sayah Deal’s father Sidney, refused to allow police to save his daughter because he didn’t want to break the windows of his new car.
Sidney, 27, got police officer’s attention and told them he accidentally locked the keys in his running car and his daughter was trapped inside. The officers offered to call a tow truck or a locksmith to break the window, but Deal declined the offer. However, he asked to use a phone to call his brother.
Deal’s brother told investigators once he got to the scene, he wrapped his shirt around his hand to punch out the window, but his brother told him to stop. The Las Vegas man asked his brother to call their mom to have her insurance company send a locksmith because he didn’t have enough money to fix the window if it would have been broken.
Deal’s girlfriend was also on the phone the insurance company for him, and she was on hold for about 23 minutes until Deal asked her to hang up because he didn’t agree with the price quoted for the tow truck. Then after several minutes Deal gave consent to break his window. Once the officers pulled out the girl, she was unresponsive and passed away at the scene. As of now, the cause of death is still pending, officers believe she had been trapped in the hot car for over an hour. Deal was arrested after being charged with one count of child abuse or neglect and is being helped on a $20,000 bond.
